Marlowe Edit Fashion Reporting, Done Properly

Founding Story & Commitment to Honest Coverage

Marlowe Edit started after our founder spent years reading 'best coat of the season' lists that turned out to be paid placements with no real testing behind them. Too many fashion sites repeated press releases word for word and called it journalism, so the gap for honest, checked reporting on fit and fabric was obvious.

We built a small Nottingham-based team of writers who actually handle the clothes they write about, interview designers and stylists directly, and cross-check claims against archive records and retailer data before anything is published. Every feature goes through a second editor who checks quotes, dates and prices against the original source.

We run on reader trust rather than sponsored rankings. When a brand does pay for coverage, it's labelled clearly and kept separate from our independent picks, and any error a reader flags gets corrected and logged within 30 days.

Eleanor Whitfield
Before anything is published, I check the sourcing myself. If a claim about fit or fabric can't be traced to a real person or a real swatch, it doesn't run.

Independent Reporting

We choose what to cover based on what readers ask about, not what a brand pays for. Sponsored pieces are rare and always labelled.

Local Focus

A good part of our reporting comes from Nottingham's own shops, markets and street style, not recycled national copy.

Reader First

Questions sent in shape future articles, and every reader gets a direct reply from the writer, not a form letter.

Our Editorial Principles

1

Local Nottingham Focus

We report on the shops, markets and street style of Nottingham and the East Midlands, not generic national copy.

2

No Sponsored Rankings

Our 'best of' lists are written by the team that wears the clothes, never bought placements.

3

Named Writers Only

Every byline belongs to a real person you can look up, with a background listed on our team page.

4

Reader Questions Answered

Send us a wardrobe question and a writer replies directly, not a template response.

5

Weekly Fact Checks

Every price, measurement and quote is checked against its source before the piece is scheduled.

6

Open Correction Log

If we get something wrong, we say so publicly and fix it within 30 days.
